Acupuncture for Teens and Adults
Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy for both teens and adults, offering holistic support for a wide range of physical and emotional concerns. For teens, it can help manage stress, anxiety, and mood swings while addressing common issues such as headaches, hormonal imbalances, and sleep disturbances. Adults often turn to acupuncture to relieve chronic pain, improve energy levels, and support mental well-being. The gentle, non-invasive nature of acupuncture makes it particularly appealing for those seeking a natural approach to health. By balancing the body's energy flow and promoting relaxation, acupuncture helps individuals of all ages achieve greater harmony and resilience in their daily lives.
Pediatric Acupuncture (ages 12 and under)
*If you are in need of an appointment for your child on a Saturday please call or text to set one up. Otherwise, you may book online for weekday appointments.
Pediatric Acupuncture adapts the traditional practice to be more comfortable and suitable for young patients. While some kids may tolerate the insertion of very fine needles, for others our acupuncturist will choose to use non-needle techniques to achieve similar benefits. These methods are designed to be gentle, non-invasive, and soothing, making acupuncture safe and effective for children. These techniques include:
Acupressure: Applying gentle pressure to acupuncture points using fingers or tools instead of needles.
Laser Acupuncture: Using low-level laser light on acupuncture points to stimulate them without piercing the skin.
Tui Na Massage: A form of Chinese therapeutic massage that targets specific energy pathways and acupuncture points.
Shonishin: A Japanese pediatric acupuncture method that uses small, non-invasive tools to stroke, tap, or rub the skin, stimulating the energy points without penetrating the skin.
Moxibustion: Applying warmth to acupuncture points through the burning of a small, dried herb called moxa, often used in combination with other techniques.
Holistic Microneedling
Holistic microneedling is a natural approach to skin rejuvenation that combines the traditional practice of microneedling with a broader, wellness-oriented perspective. It uses tiny, fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin's surface, stimulating the body’s natural healing processes to improve skin texture, reduce scars, and promote collagen production.
How it works: A device with very fine needles is gently pressed over the skin, creating micro-channels or tiny punctures. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's wound-healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for firm, youthful skin.
Unlike conventional microneedling, which may focus solely on the mechanical aspects, holistic microneedling integrates acupuncture to fully support not just your body's natural healing process but also to support your skin from the inside out. Each Holistic Microneedling treatment is tailored to your individual skin type and needs. We consider your lifestyle, diet, and stress levels as part of the treatment plan. Sessions may include recommendations for natural skincare, supplements, or stress-reduction techniques to support long-term skin health.
Holistic Microneedling is suitable for addressing acne scars, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, large pores, and uneven skin tone, promoting smoother, more radiant skin over time.
Holistic Microneedling offers a natural, integrative method of skincare that not only rejuvenates the skin but also supports overall well-being, making it a favored choice for those looking for a gentle, yet effective, graceful aging treatment.
While microneedling is generally considered safe for most people, certain individuals should avoid the procedure due to potential risks or complications. Those who should not undergo microneedling include:
pregnant or breastfeeding people, active skin infections or condition (active psoriasis, rosacea, cold sores),
propensity to keloid or hypertrophic scarring, those with blood clotting disorders or taking blood thinners,
recent laser treatments or sunburn, people with autoimmune disorders, people taking immunosuppressive medications, uncontrolled diabetes, recent use of Accutane (Isotretinoin) (within the past 6 months).
Facial Acupuncture
Facial acupuncture is a holistic treatment that uses fine needles to stimulate specific points on the face and body. While it's widely known for enhancing skin health and promoting a radiant complexion, facial acupuncture also addresses deeper concerns. It can support neuromuscular conditions such as Bell's palsy, TMJ disorders, and facial asymmetry by improving muscle tone and enhancing circulation. Beyond its physical benefits, facial acupuncture fosters mental well-being, helping to reduce stress, alleviate anxiety, and promote relaxation. This natural approach not only rejuvenates outwardly but also harmonizes the mind and body from within.
A typical course of treatment consists of 10 sessions, scheduled twice a week over 5 weeks. The first session includes a comprehensive consultation. The initial Facial Acupuncture appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes, with each of the following 10 sessions lasting about 75 minutes.
Visible results are usually noticeable within 7–8 treatments, though many individuals begin to see positive changes as early as 3–5 sessions. A study published in The International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture found that among 300 patients treated with facial acupuncture, 90% experienced positive effects. These included improved skin texture, enhanced skin tone, increased elasticity, and overall rejuvenation. Most people experience reduced stress, an uplifted mood, and a profound sense of calm after just one treatment. While the results of a 10-session treatment series are long-lasting, follow-up sessions once or twice a month are recommended to maintain and further enhance the effects.
Facial acupuncture is not suitable for individuals with the following conditions: uncontrolled high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, frequent migraines, cancer, pregnancy, or active skin infections.
Holistic Nanoneedling
Nano-needling is a wonderful technique that stimulates collagen production by safely infusing active ingredients from serums into the skin through tiny nano-channels. This method is less invasive than microneedling and allows for up to 97% absorption of skincare products. It effectively targets fine lines, acne, hyperpigmentation, and other skin blemishes, using a transdermal delivery system to enhance serum efficacy. Unlike microneedling, nano-needling is painless, requires no numbing cream, and leaves your skin smoother and glowing by activating your body's natural rejuvenation process.
Cupping Session
A 30-minute cupping session involves the use of special cups placed on the skin to create suction, promoting blood flow, reducing muscle tension, and encouraging healing. It is common to feel a sense of relaxation and relief in the targeted areas.
The cupping marks are a result of increased blood flow to the area and are considered part of the healing process. The marks usually last for a few days but can sometimes persist for up to a week, depending on your skin type and the intensity of the suction.
